I’ve been looking for the user manual for my trusty old McCulloch 2214AV chainsaw for a while to get some specs. I need to get a spare chain – the current one is missing a couple of cutters & getting pretty worn – and I want to give it the once-over. Couldn’t find the original manual so I went searching on the internet.…

My screen design for OziExplorer for Android has been updated to version 4. The original design was configured for 1200×800 resolution screens which was a bit weird; version 2 uploaded 7 June 2020 was designed for 1280×800 screens (eg Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0). It incorporated a few changes introduced with OziExplorer for Android v. 1.34, including the handling of GPX Waypoint & Track files and the removal of SMS functionality, as well as a few cosmetic changes.…

Over the last couple of months I bit the bullet and updated TNG, the excellent software package that davoweb.net…

Lightroom 6 has been announced, and (finally!) it does facial recognition and tagging! Hooray! It does mean a lot of work I’ve done in migrating face data from Picasa to Lightroom might now be redundant… although if I have to re-tag thousands of photos I’ll still be writing a utility to migrate the data for me.…

OK, I’m sick and damn tired of deleting rogue user account requests on this site. Why do you scumbags even bother? To all you real people out there, I sincerely do apologise, but I’m not prepared to put up with up to 6 or more phantom user account requests (every single one of them from a xxx.web.de…

OK, so I had recognised the need to properly manage my growing collection of images. If you’re paying attention you would have noted that I said “images”, not “photos” (despite the title of this article!). Hmm. Remember, that includes a number, soon to be in the hundreds and eventually in the thousands, of scanned photos up to maybe 100 years old, as well as my own scanned slides and prints from the last 50 years, not just photos taken since my conversion to digital cameras about 10 or so years ago.…
