  Sir Walter Stafford Northcote, 2nd Earl of Iddesleigh was Commissioner , deputy-chairman and chairman of the Board of Inland Revenue betwee 1877 and 1892.1 He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C .B.) in 1887. On 12 January 1887 he succeeded to the titles of 9th Bar onet Northcote, of Hayne, co. Devon [E., 1641], 2nd Earl of Iddesleig h [U.K., 1885] and 2nd Viscount Saint Cyres of Newton Saint Cyres, co . Devon [U.K., 1885]. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P. ) for Devon.
