  Alice was born into a Salvation Army family, and from her earliest yea s she was involved in the Army. Her involvement in the East Maitlan d Corps included membership of the Corps Band and she contributed to t he Young Peoples Corps particularly the Corps Cadets. On 22 Mar 1923 , she entered the Salvation Army Training College at Petersham. Her fi st appointment, on 7 Jan 1924, was to Broken Hill West and then Kando s before her marriage.
