  John was Rector of Exeter College, Oxford, Regius Professor of Divinit y at Oxford, and Lord Bisop of Worcester. He published "An Introductio to reading History, &c.". This work he dedicated to his brother-in-l aw, Sir Thomas Reynell the younger, and his lady, as follows: "To th e Right Worshipful Sir Thomas Reynel and to the vertuous lady, Katheri e, his wife, for the use of their towardly young sonnes Mr Thomas an d Mr Henry Reynell".
